Some 24% of Iranian households have no working members, said the head of the Special Women and Youth Committee (affiliated to the Expediency Council). “In 57% of the families there is only one member with a job; 15.5% have two, and the remaining 24% have no working members,” said Leyli Borujerdi at the National Conference on Social Policy-Making with a focus on families held December 12 at Tehran’s Allameh Tabatabai University. She added that 23.7% of families in the country earn a living through various sources of employment other than professional jobs, ISNA reported. Borujerdi called for prioritizing social wellbeing of families in policy making processes in the next five-year national development plan (2016-2021).
