The State Welfare Organization is planning to launch an Alzheimer’s disease screening plan in the near future, according to its deputy head for rehabilitation. “The plan is currently going through a feasibility study in cooperation with a non-governmental organization active in the field,” Hossein Nahvinejad told ISNA. The results of the studies will be reported by February, and the pilot phase is expected to begin as of the next Iranian fiscal year that starts in March 2017 in specific regions of the country. “Most people with Alzheimer’s live from five to up to 20 years after medical diagnosis which makes screening crucial,” Nahvinejad noted.
