About 30% of Iranians are dealing with anxiety disorders, said the head of the third International Anxiety Congress. “A pilot program to reduce and eliminate anxiety in the society is underway by the Shefa Neuroscience Research Center at Tehran’s Khatam Hospital,” said Ali Gorji, Sepidonline.ir reported. Anxiety disorders include conditions such as obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety disorder, and specific phobias. They are the most common psychiatric illnesses affecting children and adults, and one of the main psychological problems among young adults. Only about one-third of those suffering from an anxiety disorder receive treatment, even though the disorders are highly treatable. The confab (Nov 26-27) at Khatam Hospital brings together renowned experts from the US, Australia, England, Canada, Switzerland, and Germany.
