Snow Traps Thousands in 13 Provinces

Over the past week, emergency aid has been provided by the Iranian Red Crescent Society to people trapped in heavy snow and blizzard in 13 provinces across the country. “A total of 11,400 people were rescued and provided relief services during the past seven days,” said Shahin Fathi, deputy head of operations at the IRCS Relief and Rescue Organization, ILNA reported. The services were provided by 185 teams including 680 aid workers in the provinces of Mazandaran, Golestan, Gilan, Semnan, Qazvin, Tehran, Khorasan Razavi, North Khorasan, South Khorasan, Zanjan, Kerman, Fars, and Yazd. Over 1,000 people were organized in emergency shelters. Food packages and warm clothing were also distributed among those affected.
