Protein Causing Infertility Discovered

A type of protein called ‘Apolipoprotein A1’ has been recently identified as reducing the rate of success for the embryo being accepted in the endometrium or the inner layer of the uterus. Iranian researchers at Royan Institute arrived at the results in their latest research proving that high level of A1 is one of the causes of infertility in women suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome, the institute’s website Royaninstitute.org reported. They measured the amount of A1 expressed on RNA and protein in 10 healthy women and 15 women suffering from polycystic ovary syndrome. The results of the research published in the international magazine ‘Research in Medical Sciences’ show that the expression of the protein in women with polycystic ovary syndrome is significantly higher than healthy women. Further research can lead to finding a solution to control the amount of the protein and treat this condition.
