A dental treatment center was opened on Monday at ‘Khaneh-Khorshid’ (literally Sun House) women’s charity to provide oral care services to HIV patients and drug addicts. The dental unit and other medical equipment were donated to the center by Iran’s Dental Association and Hoodian Company, an importer of medical equipment. “At present, several women who have gone through detoxification for drug addiction are working at Khaneh-Khorshid,” said Leila Arshad, social worker and founder of the charity, the Persian language newspaper ‘Sharq’ reported. Only two-thirds of people living with HIV/AIDS are aware of their status, and fewer than half these people are using antiretroviral therapy.
