In a meeting in Tehran between officials from Saint Petersburg State University (SPSU) of Russia and the Tehran University (TU), the Russian side said it has plans to develop cooperation with four Iranian universities in Tehran and Isfahan. “Currently, we have collaborations with Tehran University and Isfahan University of Technology in a number of fields, and we are planning to broaden ties with Shahid Beheshti University and Sharif University of Technology,” said SPSU vice rector Sergey Bogdanov, Mehr News Agency reported. The Russian university has programs with the Isfahan University of Technology in fields of humanities. Ties with TU will be elevated in areas like engineering, biotechnology, mythology and physics. “A joint Iran-Russia scientific academy is also expected to be established in collaboration with TU,” said Bogdanov. Russian students, though few in number, are studying at universities in Tehran and plans are underway to increase the figure.
