Another strong quake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale rattled Zarand city in Kerman Province on Friday, October 29, at 5:32 pm local time, leaving 10 people injured. They were transferred to Imam Ali and Sina hospitals in the city and are receiving treatment. On October 20, a 4.8-Richter earthquake hit the city injuring 14 people. It was followed by 20 aftershocks measuring 2.3 on the Richter scale. Successive earthquakes and aftershocks have resulted in deep cracks in many buildings across the city, IRNA reported.  One of the most earthquake prone regions of Iran, Kerman sits astride several major faults.
