A pediatric cardiovascular surgery team comprising specialists from the US and Europe will perform operations on sick children at one of the Social Security Organization’s hospitals in Tehran. “The team has been accredited by the Iranian Society of Cardiac Surgeons and the Sharayan Goodwill Charity Foundation has sponsored the visit,” said hospital director Dr. Seyyed Ali Jamalian, IRNA reported. They will perform surgeries free of charge on children with complex heart conditions and in need of immediate intervention at the Shahid Lavasani Hospital October 31-Novermber 11. The children who will undergo closed and open heart surgeries will be selected and introduced by the admission department of the hospital as well as the country’s universities of medical sciences. The non-profit charity foundation supports children with congenital heart defects.
