More than 180 social service centers are operating in 150 cities with a population of 50,000 and above across the country, and 193 cities still don’t have social service centers, said Anoushiravan Mohseni Bandpei, head of the State Welfare Organization (SWO). “Establishing more centers in cities is on the SWO agenda,” he said, IRNA reported. The centers are accessible via the emergency hotline 123 and offer free counseling in social harm and injury that stems from stigma or discrimination from family or community. Last year, more than 8.5% of all calls which were made to the centers were related to child abuse cases.
