The number of beneficiaries under the coverage of the Imam Khomeini Relief Committee has reduced by 5% since two years ago when they had 4.5 million people under their coverage, said the head of the organization on Wednesday.
“Thanks to empowerment programs held for the target population including technical and vocational trainings, there is a decrease by 5% and we now have around a little over four million to support,” said Parviz Fattah at a meeting with the governor general of South Khorasan Province, ISNA reported.
Noting that 10% of the provincial population is receiving support from the IKRC (as against the average of 6% in other provinces), Fattah said focus must be on more projects to uplift the people in the underprivileged eastern province.
The IKRC has plans to reduce the people under its coverage by 10% every year through occupational training programs.
