Naloxone injections are used in Iranian hospitals to reverse the life-threatening effects of overdose of opioids in addicts. Currently, the medication is imported but “we are planning to produce naloxone nasal spray domestically in the near future,” said Manuchehr Soufi, a member of the Majlis (parliament) Health and Treatment Commission, on Wednesday.
Naloxone blocks or reverses the effects of opioid medication, including extreme drowsiness, slowed breathing, or loss of consciousness, IRNA reported.
