At a meeting between faculty members of Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) and representatives from Iraq’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the two sides agreed on a plan to establish a branch of the Iranian university in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region.
Projected to commence operation as of next academic year (2017-2018), the branch will be provided with an academic team by the Iranian side, and all courses will be held in English, ILNA reported.
During the meeting, which was attended by several Iraqi deputy ministers, both sides also explored ways to expand bilateral cooperation in students and teachers exchange programs, as well as joint research and study projects.
Iraqi PhD students who are also university faculty members were also welcomed to complete their doctoral degree at IUST.
