Rundown Schools

There are 120,000 classrooms in the country which are in urgent need of renovation, said Morteza Raeesi, deputy minister of education.  “Our main concern is mud schools, half of which are located in Sistan -Baluchistan Province,” Farda News quoted him as saying.  Presently, there are 18,000 classrooms in the province of which 6,000 are in dire need of repair. In the current school year (started September 24), more than 5,250 new classrooms were opened across the country, he said, adding that so far this year (started March 20) the contribution by philanthropists to the organization has reached a total of $240 million.
