National Food Composition Table ReadyNational Food Composition Table Ready

A National Food Composition Table has been compiled and published by the National Nutrition and Food Technology Research Institute (NNFTRI) affiliated to Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. “The table is a database holding the compositional data of raw food ingredients that exist in the country, and a compendium of scrutinized analytical data for commonly consumed foods,” Director of NNFTRI Hedayat Hosseini told IRNA. The aim of the database is to enable researchers and decision-makers to take the nutrient contribution of raw food ingredients into account in the nutrient intake estimations and policies concerning the food industry. “Given the significance of food security and proper nourishment in the health of a nation and as a contributor to achieving the sustainable development goals, this table assumes importance,” Hosseini stressed.
