About 53.8% of women and 35.6% of men in Iran are not physically active, said Dr Ali Gol-Mohammadi, head of the Center for Control and Prevention of Non-communicable Diseases at Iran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran. Around 80% of Iranians consume less fruit and vegetables than the amount recommended by the World Health Organization (400g of fruit and vegetables per day), IRNA quoted him as saying. The university has made thousands of calls to Tehrani women who have given birth in the last 6 months and offered them free nutrition and exercise counseling services.
