Flu Shot Recommended

Doctors and health officials have recommended the annual flu shot ahead of the cold season. “Elderly people, very young children, pregnant women and people with certain health conditions who are more vulnerable to serious influenza complications are advised to take the flu vaccine,” said Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Gooya, director general and head of the Health Ministry’s Center for Communicable Disease Control. People at risk of contracting the flu include those with cardiovascular and respiratory conditions, kidney and liver failure, diabetes (particularly in advanced stages), cancer, staff at medical centers, and those taking immunosuppressive drugs, he said, Khabaronline reported. Nearly 3,000 cases of severe flu (in need of treatment) were reported across the country during the cold season last year.
