Two special mobile buses for HIV/AIDS testing have been arranged by the Health Ministry in the underdeveloped and less privileged areas of Tehran to inform the residents about the disease. The initiative was jointly undertaken by the ministry, the Tehran Municipality, and Iran University of Medical Sciences in cooperation with several NGOs. It seeks to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS, particularly among the youth, and provide free of charge HIV tests, ISNA reported. According to the Health Ministry, 29,000 people with HIV were officially recorded last year and over 40% were in the age group 25-34 years. It is estimated that currently only 51% of all people with HIV are aware of their condition.
