The incidence of new cases of breast cancer in Iran is less than the global average. While the average rate of the disease is 120 per 100,000 women in the western countries, in Iran it is 30 per 100,000, said Dr Majid Samsami, a board member of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (SBUMS) in Tehran. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the incidence of breast cancer varies greatly worldwide from 19.3 per 100,000 women in Eastern Africa to 89.7 per 100,000 women in Western Europe, the SalametNews website reported.
