The FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) in Iran has entered into partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in efforts to improve the livelihood of Afghan refugees in the country.
The UNHCR’s Representative in Iran Sivanka Dhanapala on Wednesday at a ceremony announced FAO’s membership in SSAR (Solutions Strategy for Afghan Refugees), a training program which outlines the need for increased voluntary repatriation and enhanced resettlement of the refugees, UNHCR website reported. “The trainings would, over time, enhance refugees’ financial, human and social capital and will better prepare them to find a sustainable, durable solution, either in their own country or elsewhere,” FAO Representative to Iran Serge Nakouzi said at the event.
