A 17-year-old Iranian boy who had raped and killed a 6-year-old Afghan girl, Setayesh Qoreishi, in Varamin, southeast of Tehran in April, was sentenced to death and payment of blood money, said Abbas Asgari Aqbash, the lawyer of the victim’s family. According to the verdict issued by a court in Tehran, the convicted boy has been sentenced to execution for rape and murder, and payment of blood money for committing the crime, Khabaronline quoted Aqbash as saying. Officials with Iran’s immigration department as well as Tehran’s security and disciplinary officials have visited the victim’s family and promised them necessary help, he added.
