There are 1.2 million illiterate people in the country under the age of 50, said Head of Literacy Movement Organization Ali Baqerzadeh. “There are also 11 million undereducated adults,” he said during a visit to Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari Province on the occasion of the start of the new school year (Sept. 21), ISNA reported. Noting that a major obstacle impeding their education is lack of appropriate education material, Baqerzadeh said a total of 40 books have been compiled over the past year for the target group. Over 96% of the population aged 10-49 is educated which shows a 2.65% growth over the past decade.
