In the new school year (starts September 22) nearly 1.4 million children in the country will enter the first grade of primary school, said Education Minister Ali Asghar Fani, on the sidelines of the inauguration ceremony of the new academic year held at a primary school in Karaj, Alborz Province. “So far, 12.5 million students have been enrolled in schools across the country,” ISNA quoted him as saying. “Establishment of 5,500 new classrooms during the previous year by the Barekat Foundation has helped us extend education coverage,” he added. Barekat Foundation is dedicated to building schools and infrastructural facilities in remote and underdeveloped regions.
