Researchers at Tehran Islamic Azad University along with scientists at the Pastor Institute say a study they conducted shows that cold plasma (barely ionized) is capable of killing cancer cells in the cell cultivation phase.
“The aim of our research was to find a way to curb the growth of breast cancer cells using cold plasma (near room temperature plasma) and investigate the possibility of replacing chemotherapy,” said Farahnaz Yazdantalab, one of the lead researchers.
The method developed in their research does not damage healthy cells as opposed to chemotherapy which targets both healthy and cancer cells, ISNA reported.
