Researchers at the Iran Nanotechnology Initiative Council have successfully synthesized nanofibrous scaffold made of polymer to use in culturing eye stem cells and tissue engineering. Tissue engineering is used as a new scientific method to cure or recover organs of the body with damaged tissues. Scaffolds produced in tissue engineering are required to have specific physical and chemical properties for maximum adhesion and durability. The use of tissue engineering scaffolds produced through this method decreases the cost and increases efficiency in adhesion and cell culture, reports the INIC website. Results of the research have been published in the American Journal of Biomedical Materials Research.
