Five Iranian universities are listed in the latest QS University Rankings by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). Sharif University of Technology, Tehran University, Iran University of Science and Technology, Amirkabir University of technology, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences were ranked in the 430-440, 550-600, 490-500, 500-550, and 700-750 categories respectively. While TU and Sharif University have been usual contestants, it is the first appearance for the three latter centers of higher learning in the 2016-2017 World University Rankings. QS World University Rankings is an annual publication of university rankings based in the UK, and viewed as one of the most widely read university rankings.
