Advisor to the Interior Minister in Women and Family Affairs Fahimeh Farahmandpour said on Monday that “there is still a long way to go” to ensure gender equity in the country. “We are still far from reaching the goal of gender equity,” said Farahmandpour at a function in Noshahr, Mazandaran Province, IRNA reported. Noting that efforts made by the incumbent government cannot be overlooked, she said to achieve the goal, social, legal, and cultural infrastructures need to be established. “Women today want realization of equality, and we are pursuing the matter as part of our duties as the interior minister’s advisors in the pertinent areas,” she noted.
