The Royan International Research Award (2016) for Research Excellence in Biomedicine was presented to its new laureate Hans Clevers, geneticist, physician, medical researcher and a professor in molecular genetics from the Netherlands, at the 17th Royan International Congress. The congress to discuss reproductive biomedicine, stem cells and obstetrics in reproductive biomedicine, and present the latest achievements in the fields, concluded on September 2 at Razi Conference Hall of Iran University of Medical Sciences in Tehran. It hosted a number of the world’s most prestigious scholars in biomedicine as keynote speakers, Mehr News Agency reported. The annual award is instituted by Royan Institute, an Iranian clinical, research and educational center dedicated to biomedical and stem cell research, and is also one of the best clinics for infertility treatment. Most of the 175 research projects sent to the congress secretariat were from the US, China, India, Egypt, Australia, Canada, Italy, Britain, Turkey and Iran.
