One person was killed and another injured seriously, when a car with two passengers was buried under debris following a landslide on Chalus-Karaj road near Tunnel 5 on Wednesday morning, said Davood Rajabi, relief and rescue deputy at Alborz’s Red Crescent Society. “The injured person was transferred to a health center in Karaj,” Alef News Agency quoted him as saying. Chalus- Karaj road is one of the major routes linking Tehran and Iran’s northern provinces. It passes through the central part of the Alborz Mountains, where rock falls and landslides occur quite frequently.
