A team of innovators at the Barakat Foundation has developed a microscope that provides for telepathology in remote and underprivileged regions.

“With this new innovation, there is no need for a specialized pathologist to be stationed in the remote regions,” said foundation CEO Seyyed Mohammad Pourhosseini, ISNA reported.  Telepathology is the practice of distance pathology. It uses telecommunications technology to facilitate the transfer of image-rich pathology data between distant locations for the purposes of diagnosis, education, and research.

The microscope is being trialed in four provinces.

The Barakat Foundation is dedicated to creating entrepreneurs, building schools and infrastructure in remote and underdeveloped regions. It is affiliated to the Setad, a special office for executing the decrees of the late Imam Khomeini in helping the underprivileged.
