As of the next academic year that starts on September 23, a course on social rights and responsibilities will be included in the curriculum of high school girls, said deputy of planning and coordination at the Vice Presidency for Women and Family Affairs.

“The course will be offered in selected provinces based on the priorities set by the vice presidency and at the discretion of the Education Ministry,” Athareh Nejadi told ISNA.

The provinces are those with the highest rate of social harms that are identified in the atlas on women’s issues and social harm compiled by the vice presidency.

“A large part of the social issues and how they are dealt with in the society stems from unawareness of our individual rights and duties, which needs to be addressed,” Nejadi noted.
