At least 70,000 Iranians suffer from Multiplesclerosis (MS) as per official data, and around 2 million people around the world have MS, said Seyed Hossein Vaziri, head of Iran Multiple Sclerosis Society. “Most of the people are diagnosed with the disease between the ages 20 to 40 and therefore it can negatively affect their education, job prospects and marriage. Early diagnosis is important as treatment can slow down its progress,” Alef News Agency quoted him as saying. Two popular Iranian actresses, Behnaz Jafari and Ateneh Faqih Nasiri, who have MS are using their star status to raise awareness of the disease and share their stories so that others with MS know they are not alone, he said.
