Iran’s Package of Essential Non-communicable diseases (IRAPEN) intervention was unveiled recently in Baft City, Kerman Province in the presence of Health Minister Seyed Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi. The package aims to identify and monitor people at high risk for developing NCDs, IRNA reported. A pilot plan is already underway in four counties of Shahreza, Isfahan Province, Naqadeh, West Azarbaijan Province, Maraqeh, East Azarbaijan Province, and Baft, Kerman Province. Under the plan, in Baft, 4,285 people over the age of 20 were screened for NCDs and 1,985 women for breast cancer with 52 receiving free mammography, Rafiee said. The package of health services aims to strengthen equity and efficiency of primary health care in disadvantaged areas.
