Hotline to Promote Breastfeeding

Hotline to Promote Breastfeeding

Government hospitals across the country will have a 24/7 hotline to provide consultation to nursing mothers, said Hamed Barekati, head of the Children’s Health Office at the Health Ministry.
“The plan is in line with the ministry’s regulations on promoting breastfeeding and natural childbirth in the country, and the hotlines will be set up at hospitals that perform at least 3,000 deliveries a year,” he told IRNA. The National Committee on Breastfeeding (established in 1991 by the ministry to promote breastfeeding for preventing morbidity and mortality in infants and enhance child development) will run the hotline project to educate first-time mothers on breastfeeding, and offer consultation in case of complications or problems.
