In a meeting between Health Minister Hassan Qazizadeh Hashemi and Vice President of Cuba’s Council of Ministers and Executive Committee Ricardo Cabrisas Ruiz, in Tehran on Saturday, the two sides explored avenues of cooperation. “We hope to resume ties with Cuba after a five-year hiatus,” said Hashemi, ISNA reported. Taking note of the recent advancements in nano and bio-technology, he said Iran’s medicine exports have doubled over the past three years. “Cuba is now producing 14 types of vaccines, while Iran is producing 9. A joint consortium could help both countries progress faster and meet national and regional needs,” Hashemi added. Appreciating Iran’s capacity in medical and pharmaceutical sciences, Cabrisas Ruiz expressed Havana’s readiness for cooperation. “Joining forces in these two areas could be an important step in bilateral ties,” he said.
