The Azeri Turkish language and literature has been introduced as a major in some universities from the new academic year that starts in September. For the first time in the country, Kurdistan University accepted 40 students for the Kurdish language and literature major last year, eqtesadonline.com reported. During his two-day visit to the provincial capital of Sanandaj, Kurdistan Province last year, President Hassan Rouhani had announced that the Kurdish language course would be launched in Kurdistan, adding that the duty of the government is to “protect the language, culture and attire” of all ethnic groups across Iran.
