Around 400,000 preschoolers will undergo health screening at hundreds of health centers across the country in summer, prior to their entry in the first grade of school in the new academic year on September 23, said Majid Qadami, head of Exceptional Education Organization at the Education Ministry. The health tests started in June and will continue till September. “While screening of each child costs $4, for nomadic students it is free,” Mehr News Agency quoted him as saying. About 10% of the children screened were identified with problems like visual or hearing impairment, movement problems, mental retardation, learning difficulties and behavioral problems.
