Metro passengers can use the subway without having any safety concerns. The condition of the metro trains and coaches is regularly monitored, said Ehsan Moghaddam, director general for public relations at Tehran Urban & Suburban Railway Operation Company. He was allaying concerns among commuters following an incident on Monday night when smoke was seen after a passenger on the Tehran-Karaj line (Line 4) pulled the emergency brake. Confused passengers thought that a fire had broken out due to a short circuit, Alef News Agency reported. Tehran Metro carries more than 3 million passengers a day along its 168 km routes with four lines and 96 stations.
