The Organization for Civil Registration hassaid it would resume publishingthe divorce rates following criticism by various state authorities and lawmakers after the announcement last week that it would stop releasing data on broken marriages due to its “detrimental effects on society.”

The national demographic observatory has announced that the marriage and divorce rates have seen a 2.2% decrease and increase, respectively, since the beginning of the current Iranian year that started in March, ILNA reported.

“Currently, one divorce is registered for every 4.2 marriages,” said Hamid Derakhshannia, head of the organization.

Sistan-Baluchistan, Ilam, and Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari have the lowest divorce rates, while Alborz, Khorasan Razavi, and Qom have the highest.
