The average daily consumption of salt in Iran is 10.5 to 12 grams which is twice the recommended amount. Per capita sugar intake should be also reduced by 25% to reach the global average consumption rate, said Rasoul Dinarvand, head of the Food and Drug Administration. At present, less than 5% of people don’t receive enough calories to stay healthy, but most people eat more calories than they burn, Mehr News Agency reported. Stating that annual per capita consumption of different kinds of edible oils is 18-20 kg in the country, Dinarvand said trans fats will be removed from all food products in the country by the end of 2025.
