A national document on autism spectrum disorder which has been jointly developed by the ministries of health, education and cooperatives, labor and social welfare, will be implemented within the next two months, said Mostafa Jamali, director general of NGOs Office at the Health Ministry. Although the autism is highly prevalent in the country, currently there is no specific evaluation program for early detection. “Under the new initiative, early diagnosis, intervention and instructional strategies, will be provided,” he said, IRNA reported. If diagnosed early, when the child’s brain is malleable and still developing, the disorder is more likely to be treated successfully.
