Forty hospitals with more than 5,700 beds will be opened across the country by the end of the present government’s tenure in mid-2017.

Several of the hospitals will be inaugurated next week, said Mohammad Jafar Alizadeh, deputy minister of housing and urban development.

“In the current fiscal year (started in March), $145 million has been allocated for completion of the hospital projects. At present, 100 hospitals (with 24,000 beds) are under construction nationwide,” IRNA quoted him as saying.

Most of the hospitals are being constructed in deprived areas such as Robat Karim in Tehran, Bandar-e Gaz in Golestan, Bukan in West Azarbaijan, Kuhbanan in Kerman, and Mal-e Khalifeh in Chaharmahal-Bakhtiari provinces, among others.
