Heavy rainfall and flooding in various parts of Iran over the past week claimed six lives and caused severe damage in Sistan-Baluchistan and Kerman provinces. Four people, including a pregnant woman, lost their lives in Kerman while two drowned due to floods in Sistan-Baluchistan rivers, news outlets reported.

The flood has caused a 200-billion-rial ($5.7 million) loss in Sistan-Baluchistan, particularly in the southern Mehrestan County, but there are no official reports yet on the damages to Souran and Iranshahr counties, which were severely hit.  “Five other provinces have also been dealing with flash floods over the past few days including Fars, Golestan, Semnan, Khorasan Razavi, and South Khorasan,” said Nasser Charkhsaz, head of the Iranian Red Crescent Society’s Relief and Rescue Operations, ISNA reported.
