Three of the world’s 10 most expensive drugs are now produced locally, said Rasoul Dinarvand, head of the Food and Drug Administration. “The drugs will be produced as monoclonal antibodies, which is when a laboratory-produced molecule is carefully engineered to attach to specific defects in cancer cells,” he told IRNA. The drugs include Rituximab, Ixekizumab, and Bevacizumab, and each vial is worth hundreds to thousands of dollars. They are mostly used to treat cancer. “Rituximab and Ixekizumab have already entered the domestic market, but the third is going through clinical trial and will be produced by next March,” Dinarvand noted.
