An educational course in ergonomics will be incorporated into textbooks of technical and vocational training for several school grades, said Khosrow Sadeqniat, head of the Work and Environment Health Center affiliated to the Health Ministry.

“Ergonomics (the study of people’s efficiency in their working or study environment) will help in the upkeep of students’ physical health and reduce musculoskeletal disorders,” IRNA quoted him as saying.

The goal of ergonomics is to reduce stress and eliminate injuries and disorders associated with the overuse of muscles, bad posture, and repeated tasks. The educational course will train students in proper computer use, sitting posture, and how to optimally use the educational environment and facilities.

The project is a joint effort between the center and the Education Ministry.
