During the first four months of the current year (started March 20), more than 522,600 births were registered in the country, according to figures released by the Population Information Office at the Civil Registration Organization. The sex ratio at birth currently stands at 100 girls to 104 boys.  The figure was 100 girls to 106 boys last year, the organization’s website reported.  The present national population growth rate is at or near 1.4%. Iran’s median age is expected to increase from 28 in 2013 to 40 by 2030, suggesting the possibility of zero population growth rate by 2050.
