Bandages for dressing the wounds of Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) patients will be supplied free of charge from August, according to the head of Food and Drug Administration. “The Health Ministry will supply the expensive special bandages that are practically life-saving to these patients free of charge,” Rasoul Dinarvand was quoted as saying by IRNA. The dressings will be provided through the specialized health house for EB patients that was set up last November following a directive from the ministry, where free medical services are provided. Each package of bandages cost around $30, and a total of three or four packages are needed to cover a child’s entire body. The dressing must also be renewed every eight hours. EB is a group of inherited connective tissue diseases that cause blisters in the skin and mucosal membranes.
