Atlas on Nomadic Routes

Iran’s Tribal Affairs Organization is currently developing a specific atlas that shows all nomadic routes used by pastoral nomads when they move during seasonal changes along with their livestock and household items, said its head, Karamali Qandali. The map will help in planning and improving nomadic access to the main roadways. There are 1.2 million nomads in the country and an estimated 50,000 km of routes are normally used by them, of which 2,800 km is in Northern Khorasan Province. At present, 95% of nomadic and tribal people have access to the national road network (220,000 km).
