Five more foreign languages (besides English and Arabic) will enter school curriculums, announced secretary of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution. “The decision was finalized in a meeting the council in the presence of President Hassan Rouhani on Wednesday,” said Mohammad Reza Mokhber Dezfuli, the Persian language daily ‘Iran’ reported. It did not name the five new languages. The meeting also called for an in-depth assessment of the role and effectiveness of the foreign languages taught so far by the Education Ministry, and to review and update the existing curricular items including textbooks. It was also decided that the five other languages be selected after a thorough study by the ministry on the needs and requirements of school and university students.
