A young firefighter died early Friday when he was trying to rescue people trapped in a three-story residential building which was on fire, in Tehran’s Laleh Boulevard, Jannat Abad district. Ali Ghane was able to save 15 people from the burning building before he succumbed, spokesman of Tehran’s Firefighting Department Seyed Jalal Maleki told IRNA. An 89-year old disabled woman died of severe injuries in the incident. “The death of this brave and selfless man is indeed a loss for the country,” Maleki said, adding that the cause of the fire is under investigation.
